Work shadowing at Sørlandet Hospital is a time-limited placement in which you, as a work-shadowing participant, take part in the department’s daily routines without having independent responsibility. In some cases, work shadowing is also referred to as practical training, but it must not be confused with student placements organised by a university or university college.
SSHF receives approximately 60 doctors in specialist training year 1 (LIS 1 doctors) each year. SSHF offers LIS training in 34 different specialties and has approximately 280 doctors in LIS 2/3 positions at any given time. We receive several hundred students on placement every year. We also offer shorter placements for students in their third year of upper secondary school and apprentices from partner municipalities.
