LIS 2 and LIS 3
Sørlandet Hospital offers LIS training in 34 different specialties and has approximately 280 doctors in LIS 2/3 positions at any given time. You can read more about the training pathways for each specialty under training plans.

Learning objectives describe what you, as a doctor, should understand, know and be able to do after completing your practice. The learning objectives have been prepared by the Norwegian Directorate of Health with input from the Norwegian Medical Association. All learning objectives are stipulated by regulation. The new specialist training regulations require that all learning objectives related to the relevant specialty must be approved by a manager before you can apply for specialist approval.
Learning activities are activities that LIS must complete to meet a learning objective. The activities are determined by the health trust and may include courses, in-house teaching, performing procedures, self-study and participation in clinical practice.
As an LIS, you must document all completed learning activities on an ongoing basis and request approval of learning objectives in the Competence Portal. The Norwegian Directorate of Health requires that all learning objectives be approved before you, as an LIS, can apply for specialist approval. The learning objectives must be approved by a manager based on completed learning activities and information from a supervisor and at least one person providing supervision.

To download the Competence Portal app, search for “Dossier helse” in the relevant app stores. .
You will also receive training in how to use the Competence Portal during the induction week.
Some of the learning activities required to meet the learning objectives for LIS 2/3 at Sørlandet Hospital are participation in local courses and group supervision.
