Practical information for you who are, or want to be a blood donor at Sørlandet Hospital.

Many people want to send a floral greeting when they visit a patient at the hospital, but due to allergies and infection risk, several of our departments are flower-free. We appreciate it if you who want to bring a gift to the patient choose something other than flowers.

Some patients also react allergically to perfume or creams with perfume. We ask that this be taken into consideration.

You will have part of your expenses covered for treatment with a doctor, at the outpatient clinic or other treatment institutions, but you must pay a co-payment.

See an overview of co-payments and free cards on helsenorge.no

Many patients and relatives want to take photos/videos or blog about their time at the hospital. Of course, you are welcome to do so, as long as you respect the privacy of other patients and employees.

Here are a couple of good tips for using social media for you who are a patient or relative:

  • Respect others. You must have consent if you want to take pictures or videos of patients or employees. All patients have the right to privacy when they are at the hospital.
  • Parents/guardians decide whether you can take pictures of children or publish pictures of their children online. Parents should consider what is best for the child. When the child is 12 years old, great weight should be placed on what the child thinks. When the child is 15 years old, they decide for themselves whether it is okay to be photographed and whether they should be published.
  • Remember that employees must also give their permission if you want to publish pictures you have taken of them.
  • You should remove content you have published if the person involved asks you to. If someone has posted pictures of you on the internet without permission, you can ask them to delete it.If you are not heard, you can contact:www.slettmeg.no.

Sound recordings

It is not illegal to make recordings of conversations you participate in for private use. Publishing and sharing, however, requires consent from the person you are talking to. Secret recordings of conversations you do not participate in are illegal.

Have you worked in healthcare or received healthcare outside of Scandinavia in the last year? For example, this could be hospitalization, extensive outpatient treatment, or a visit to the dentist. Then your family doctor must test you for bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics, such as MRSA. Ask your family doctor to send you the test results before your appointment and bring them with you to the hospital.

Sometimes we need a place to gather our thoughts. Sørlandet Hospital has three such rooms available for patients and relatives. There you can rest and find peace of mind. The rooms are open to all regardless of beliefs and faith.
