Unit for Treatment Aids

Treatment aids are medical equipment and supplies necessary to perform treatment at home. The equipment is loaned to patients, and the treatment must be initiated through specialist healthcare services. Examples of equipment include CPAP, diabetes equipment, infusion pumps, nutrition pumps, oxygen equipment, and nebulizers. For electronic ordering: read more about the Unit for Treatment Aids.

Patients who have borrowed diabetes equipment, cronopid pumps, and equipment for coagulation measurement (INR) can use electronic ordering. In the future, we want to be able to offer electronic ordering to include more patient groups.

Area of Responsibility

The Unit for Treatment Aids (BHM) is responsible for medical equipment and supplies for home treatment in Sørlandet Hospital's catchment area.

Equipment Dispensing

Equipment dispensing takes place after we have received and processed the loan form for treatment aids from a specialist physician or other approved practitioner.

Remember to order supplies 14 days before you run out. You can order supplies for three months at a time. The items you order will be sent by mail.

Equipment Return

Equipment not in use should be returned to us.

If it is challenging to transport the equipment to us, please contact us to arrange for pickup. See contact information further down.

Repairs and Service

If loaned equipment breaks or needs service, this should be arranged through the Unit for Treatment Aids. Contact us by phone. See contact information further down the page. In case of equipment failure that leads to rapid deterioration of health, contact the emergency medical service or the treating department at Sørlandet Hospital. In the event of an acute emergency, call 113.

Training

The treating department is responsible for ensuring that you receive the necessary training before using the equipment. The Unit for Treatment Aids can answer questions and provide guidance on the use of equipment and the correct supplies. Questions regarding the treatment itself, such as changes in settings, should be directed to your practitioner.

You are responsible for treating the borrowed equipment properly so that it is not damaged. Follow the instructions for cleaning and necessary maintenance.

Contact us if you have questions about the equipment, if there is a malfunction, or if you need new supplies.
