Shadowing at Sørlandet Hospital is a time-limited stay where you, as a shadow, participate in the department's daily routines, without having independent responsibility. Shadowing is also referred to in some cases as practice, but should not be confused with student practice organized by a university or college.
SSHF annually receives approximately 60 doctors in specialist training 1 (LIS 1 doctor). SSHF offers LIS training in 34 different specialties, and has at any time approximately 280 doctors in LIS 2/3 positions. We receive several hundred students in practice annually. We also offer shorter practice periods for students from upper secondary school year three and apprentices from collaborating municipalities.
