Symptoms

The most common symptoms are a feeling of heaviness and/or pressure in the lower abdomen. Some experience that it is difficult to empty the bladder completely when visiting the toilet.

Different types of prolapse of vagina/uterus:

  • Posterior vaginal wall, possibly with effect on the bowel (rectocele/enterocele)
  • Uterus or prolapse (decens of uterus/cervical elongation)
  • Prolapse of vaginal top/uterus (uterindescens)
  • Total prolapse, where the entire uterus protrudes from the vagina
