Sørlandet Hospital HF is Agder’s largest employer with over 7000 employees. Our operations are distributed across several locations with many job opportunities. Our main tasks are patient treatment, research, teaching, and patient and caregiver education. We offer patient services within somatic medicine, mental health, substance abuse, and addiction treatment.

We offer:

Education of healthcare personnel is one of our four legally mandated tasks. This includes specialist training for doctors, collaboration with educational institutions regarding basic education, further education, and continuing education, and other competence development of our own employees.

Education and competence development

Sørlandet Hospital needs employees with different competences, backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives to contribute to even better task performance. It is a goalthat our employees to the greatest extent possible reflect the diversity of the population. As an employee with us, you automatically become a member of the Municipal Pension Fund
- KLP. Membership entitles you to old-age pension, disability pension, and survivor's pension.

  • The pension scheme in KLP covers nurses in 20% positions or more.
  • The pension scheme also covers permanent and temporary nurses who work less than 20%, but who take extra shifts/hours so that the average per quarter corresponds to a 20% position.
  • For all other employees, the scheme applies if you work an average of 14 hours per week in a quarter.
  • Temporary employees are included in the KLP pension scheme from their first day of employment.

Insurance
All employees are covered by occupational accident insurance, group life insurance, personal accident insurance for leisure time, and travel insurance for business trips.

Parking spaces at Sørlandet Hospital are subject to a fee from Monday to Friday between 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM. P-permits for employees, students, and tenants are sold at reduced prices. Contact the Service Desk for more information.

Sørlandet Hospital has housing available for rent for students and temporary workers.

Arendal has 22 apartments in different price ranges and sizes. All located at Hauglandsheia 2, within walking distance of the hospital.

Placement for students in practice
Sørlandet Hospital receives 650 students annually for practical training. The students are pursuing a bachelor's degree, further education, advanced education, or a master's degree.
