The course is for doctors, nurses and other out-of-hours medical service staff, and is based on an online theoretical preparatory course (e-learning), followed by a two-day session focusing mainly on practical skills, joint training and communication.

The Norwegian Medical Association has approved the course as counting for 15 hours as a mandatory subject course in general practice, with the right to financial support from the Norwegian Medical Association's Educational Fund 2.

The course costs NOK 6,950. This includes a two-course dinner on day 1, a buffet lunch on day 2, as well as refreshments during breaks throughout the course.

Online theory course

You must complete both the theory course and the practical course if you have not previously taken the theory course in emergency medicine and work at an out-of-hours medical service or are part of an out-of-hours medical service vehicle crew.

You must complete the practical emergency medicine course every 5 years, but you only need to take the theory course once if you take the course as part of recertification as a specialist in general practice, or to maintain your right to specialist fees.

The course must be completed before the course begins, and the course certificate must be brought to the course. If you cannot present your course certificate, no course certificate will be issued.
