You may be entitled to have necessary expenses covered when traveling to and from the treatment location.

You should initially use public transport, and you must pay a deductible. To get reimbursement for expenses incurred during the trip, you must fill out a travel expense form and send it toPatient travel.

At the hospital pharmacy in Arendal, you can hand in prescriptions and buy pharmacy goods.
You will find us on the 1st floor of the main building, just inside the entrance.
Open every weekday from 08:30-16:00.

Children and young people are affected when someone in the family is ill and needs to understand what is happening. It may be that you yourself are a patient, a caregiver, or that you are a parent of sick children with siblings. We at the hospital will contribute to ensuring that the children and young people in your family are well taken care of.

Children as caregivers

The patient library in Arendal is located in the basement of the main building. It is self-service and open 24 hours a day. Here you can borrow books and read newspapers and magazines.

Have you worked in healthcare or received healthcare outside of Scandinavia in the last year?

For example, this could be hospitalization, extensive outpatient treatment, or a visit to the dentist. Then your family doctor must test you for bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics (e.g., MRSA).

Ask your family doctor to send you the test results before your appointment with us and bring them with you when you come to the hospital.

Kiosk
The kiosk is located in the vestibule on the 1st floor.

Here you can buy kiosk goods such as newspapers, weekly magazines, fruit, chocolate, cookies, ice cream, soft drinks, cards, flowers, some toiletries, and various souvenirs.

In addition, you can buy buns, chicken wraps, rolls, salads, calzones, panini, and sausages.

If you have a serious illness that needs to be treated or followed up for a certain period, you may be entitled to be assigned a contact physician in specialist healthcare services.

Contact physician in specialist healthcare services is a scheme to ensure that follow-up of you as a patient becomes better, safer, and more efficient. A contact physician is a right for you as a patient and an obligation for specialist healthcare services.

Contact physician's tasks

The contact physician has a special responsibility to follow you up during treatment or follow-up in specialist healthcare services. The tasks of the contact physician are to:

  • be your fixed medical contact throughout the patient's course of treatment
  • be involved in the treatment or follow-up of you
  • stay informed about the status of your treatment
  • contribute to ensuring that the patient's course of treatment goes as planned
  • contact relevant personnel / treatment unit if there are challenges with your patient's course of treatment
  • inform you and relatives
  • be available to you and healthcare personnel in medical questions
  • contact physician does not replace your family doctor

Guidelines for contact physician in specialist healthcare services

 

Parking spaces at Southern Norway Hospital are subject to a fee from Monday to Friday from 08:00 to 20:00. All who wish to park on the hospital grounds must follow the signs and instructions on the payment machines.

At the hospitals in Arendal and Kristiansand, it is possible to pay for parking with EasyPark (mobile solution), card, or coins in other places. See signs for both payment options and time limits.

At the hospital in Kristiansand, you can register your parking via the Easypark app, via the machine where you park, or the Flowbird website.

At the hospital in Arendal, cameras read the vehicle's license plate numbers upon entering and exiting the parking garage through the Autopay service. Follow the signs and read the instructions.


Pay in the payment machine

If you have not created a profile onAutopay.io​, you can pay in the machine at the main entrance. Enter the vehicle's license plate number. You can pay with card or cash, but the machine does not give change.

Pay automatically

Register as a customer with license plate number and bank card on www.autopay.io. Once you have registered, you will pay automatically every time you park in the parking garage.

In some periods, e.g. during heavy snow, it may be difficult to find a parking space. We therefore recommend that you allow plenty of time.

For electric cars:

Arendal: Electric cars can park free in areas marked with a maximum of 1, 2, or 3 hours. On other areas, a fee must be paid from the first hour.
Kristiansand: Electric cars pay a fee from and including the first hour.
Flekkefjord: Electric cars pay a fee from and including the first hour.

Do you need to charge your car? Not all of our hospital areas have charging stations, and those that do have a limited number. You therefore cannot rely on being able to charge your car while you are visiting as a patient or visitor. You can see all charging stations here:

Blood donors park free at the hospital.Further information is available from the blood bank.


Parents (under 18 years) with a hospital stay of more than 14 days,receive free parking during the child's continued stay. This also applies if the child's stay starts at another hospital. Contact the department at the hospital for further information.

Valid HC card gives free parking in designated areas
Contact the Service Desk to register your HC card. HC vehicles are exempt from time limits unless otherwise stated on the signs.

Parking for giving birth Kristiansand
There is free parking for women giving birth outside the Women's Department at the hospital in Kristiansand. The maximum parking time is set to 2 hours.

If you need an interpreter, you must notify the hospital of this well in advance of the appointment. Expenses for the interpreter are covered by the healthcare service.Helsenorge.no

All visitors can use free wireless internet at the hospital.

Look for HSO-Guest on your network and follow the instructions for logging in.

If you cannot find the network, you are in an area that has not yet been developed.

If the child has been exposed to waterpox infection, or has waterpox, please contact us. The assigned appointment/admission must then be postponed. This also applies if you are visiting the pediatric and adolescent department. For some of our patients, waterpox infection can be dangerous.
