What should I pack?
When you are going to the hospital, you can bring your own clothes. You will of course be given hospital clothes, but sometimes it is nice to wear your own clothes. Also bring your own underwear.
Remember to also bring the toiletries you normally use at home.
You can also bring school books or your schoolwork and preferably a PC, tablet or pad if you wish - remember the charger.
Packing list
The Youth Council is made up of young people who know what it’s like to be young and sick. Anna Seljelid Kongsmo and Ane Drabløs Røisland from the Ahus Youth Council have created this packing list:
- Mobile phone, PC, headphones and chargers
- Noise-canceling earplugs
- Toothbrush and toothpaste
- Shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, hairbrush, lip balm, hand cream and face cream
- Own clothes, underwear, slippers and cozy socks
- Snacks, energy bars and chewing gum
- The first time you sleep alone at the hospital can feel scary. It is an unusual situation, with many new people. It is a good idea to tell the nurses that you are afraid, so they can help you. There may also be a lot of information, so remember to also tell them if there is something you do not understand or did not get.
