It can be nice to take a break from the hospital corridors. The outdoor hospital offers 35 square meters of respite in a unique natural area for young and old.

The cabin should be a place where you can retreat, look at the view and dream away. Or just be together with your loved ones, on your own terms.

Treatment room and guest room
During the day, the cabin functions as a treatment room. In the afternoon and evening, you, as a patient and relative, can book time in the cabin.

The cabin is universally designed and all windows are placed so that at all times it is possible to see the sky and trees.

To you as a patient and relative
The cabin contains a living room, toilet and conversation room. The entrance has large, built-in cabinets containing a sound system.

If you would like to eat a meal during your stay at the cabin, you are welcome to do so. You must then bring what you need of food, glasses, cups and cutlery. There are no kitchen facilities in the cabin.

The cabin is located in the immediate vicinity of the hospital, with a short distance to acute help. You can therefore feel safe while you are there.

The outdoor hospital was developed by the Department of Mental Health for Children and Young People at the hospital, OUS in collaboration with the Stiftelsen Friluftssykehuset Foundation and the architectural firm Snøhetta. The background for the collaboration was a shared desire to create a good place in nature for patients and relatives. Photo: Lars Kristian Singelstad
