“This was an important decision, and we are pleased that the board of the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority has recognised the importance of getting this process underway,” says Managing Director Nina Mevold:

The new emergency and intensive care building will therefore be the next major construction project after the new psychiatric building is completed. However, completion of the project is still a long way off.

“It will probably be 2028–2029 before we can cut the ribbon on a completely new building. But now we’re underway, and we’re delighted about that,” says Mevold.

The board of the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority unanimously adopted the following resolution:

1. The board approves the start of project planning for the emergency building in Kristiansand at Sørlandet Hospital HF. A financial planning framework of NOK 1.0 billion (March 2021 prices; P50 estimate) shall be used as the basis.

2. As part of the project planning, the prioritised needs triggering the project shall be further specified, and the number of options required for further assessment shall be identified.

3. The board assumes that Sørlandet Hospital HF is the project owner for the project planning, based on a mandate approved by the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority.

4. The Managing Director is authorised to approve the mandate for project planning for the emergency building in Kristiansand at Sørlandet Hospital HF.
