The board unanimously approved the concept report for the new emergency building in Kristiansand yesterday and agreed that the project will proceed to the next phase – preliminary project planning.

“The board of the South-Eastern Norway Regional Health Authority still needs to approve it, and the emergency building needs to be included in the 2025 national budget,” said Per W. Torgersen, project director at Sørlandet Hospital Trust, at the celebration.

Today, the project management team for the Kristiansand emergency building (SSAK) invited everyone who has contributed to the project to a joint celebration, as a big thank-you to the many people in the trust who have put a great deal of work into the concept phase.

“We have now been working on the concept phase for two and a half years. It has been an exciting process, with good dialogue among all parties. The coming year will be spent planning the building itself, the technology and the organisation, before we hopefully can break ground on a completed emergency building in 2028,” said Torgersen.

In her speech of thanks, Mette R. Knudsen, project director at Sykehusbygg, emphasised the excellent cooperation between Sykehusbygg and Sørlandet Hospital.

“The tremendous commitment and positive attitude throughout the organisation have made this an enjoyable project, which has in turn produced good solutions for the building to come,” she said, among other things.
