Municipal Health Centre

Kristiansand Municipality is building a health centre with an out-of-hours medical service, overnight beds and a response centre next to the emergency building.

We plan and build together. Cooperation on space, equipment, technology and expertise will provide better and more efficient patient pathways.

The health centre will cover approximately 6,000 square metres over three floors. It will house an out-of-hours medical service, ØHD (24-hour emergency care), short-term beds for patients requiring intensive resources, a medical centre for GP services, and a jointly organised call centre for the out-of-hours medical service and response centre.

See the municipality’s website for more information:

A project group with staff from the hospital and municipality is considering how the hospital’s various departments and the units in the municipality’s health centre can work together.

The goals are:

  • Better user experiences
  • Good patient flow and continuity of services
  • Improved quality of treatment
  • Stronger cooperation on staffing and expertise

The group’s remit is described in a separate mandate:

Mandate for cooperation with Kristiansand Municipality on the emergency building and health centre

A shared building provides an opportunity for closer cooperation, particularly between the ambulance service, out-of-hours medical service, municipal doctor’s car, emergency department and 24-hour emergency care (ØHD). It will also enable technological collaboration, for example in the remote follow-up of patients by both the municipality and the hospital.
