Annual report on antibiotic resistance blood cultures SSHF
Here we will annually publish current resistance data from blood cultures for Sørlandet Hospital HF. The data are based on resistance determinations performed at the Dept. of Medical Microbiology Kristiansand.

The Microbiology Department in Kristiansand performs bacteriological diagnostics for the hospital in Arendal, Kristiansand and Flekkefjord and for a large part of the primary health service in Agder. Here we have published the prevalence of antibiotic resistance in blood culture isolates for the most common microbes (E. coli, K. pneumoniae and S. aureus). To obtain the most robust data, the three hospitals are presented together. Patients with findings of the same microbe within 30 days are considered as one finding. It is specified that this is only a reporting of routine data and therefore cannot be used as a treatment guide, the prevalence of ESBL and MRSA does not reflect carriage in the population. The statistics are in good agreement with national data on antibiotic resistance. It is recommended to follow thenational antibiotic guidelineswhen treating infections.
