What is innovation at Sørlandet Hospital?
The term innovation is used for so many things, by many people, and it is therefore not easy to form a common understanding. Therefore, we have written a little about what Sørlandet Hospital means by innovation:

Innovation is about developing and implementing new and better products and services, but also about improvements in the business in the form of new and cost-effective processes, organizational solutions, and patient flow. Briefly, you can say that innovation is new solutions that are implemented. In Helse Sør-Øst, the terms "new, useful, and made useful" are used. This is because an idea does not become an innovation until it is implemented and creates value.

The idea reception is here to help you, as the idea holder, to get an idea to become an innovation. User experiences are central to the work of identifying needs and influencing the design of tomorrow's services, products, and service models.

Different projects require different approaches
Every innovation project is unique. However, we have simplified things a bit and use two main categories:

1. Service Innovation
2. Product Innovation

Service innovation is about developing new and better services and processes based on patients' needs:

Focus on patient satisfaction, work environment, quality, and social benefit

Can be implemented without the help of a third party

Product innovation is about developing and implementing new products that will improve the hospital's services. Such an invention will often be patentable and therefore have commercial potential. Employees in the hospital are legally required to report inventions with commercial potential (cf. the Act on Employee Inventions). Inven2 and the idea reception/SSHF can help you with, among other things:

• Rights protection/patenting
• Safeguarding both the employee's and the employer's rights related to an idea
• Contact with a commercialization partner and industrial collaboration
   

Inven2 manages, develops, and commercializes all work and research results with commercial potential arising from healthcare enterprises in Helse Sør-Øst HF.

Inven2 assists the owners in negotiating and entering into collaboration agreements for research with industrial actors.

Does not exclude a later commercialization solution

The idea reception is here to help your idea move forward so that its value can be realized. We work across the entire healthcare enterprise.

Does the Idea Reception distribute money?

The idea reception does not have its own funds for distribution. If you have a good idea, we can support you in applying for funds.

Does the Idea Reception have project managers who can realize the idea?

The idea reception's task is to receive, assess, and coordinate the work with ideas in collaboration with employees at the hospital and external partners. We do not have our own project managers available for loan.
