Central Research Committee

Central Research Committee SSHF (SFU)is an advisory body to the Managing Director and Director of Professional Services on research strategy initiatives at Sørlandet Hospital. The SFU shall help develop and promote research at Sørlandet Hospital HF. The Research Committee shall represent the research communities and be interdisciplinary. ​​

TERMS OF REFERENCE FOR THE CENTRAL RESEARCH COMMITTEE AT SSHF

THE RESEARCH COMMITTEE SHALL

• Serve as an advisory body to the Managing Director, the Director of Professional Services and the Research Section.
• Help develop and promote research at Sørlandet Hospital HF
• Ensure that the allocation of resources for research is in line with overarching strategic guidelines, the Plan for Research and Research-driven Innovation, and the hospital’s needs
• Ensure that systems are in place to meet the statutory requirements for sound research activities, safeguarding ethical, medical, health-related, scientific, privacy and information security considerations
• Ensure that internal controls are carried out
• Assess and make recommendations regarding applications for internal research support
• Provide opinions on research ethics issues at the hospital
• Evaluate its own activities annually
• Facilitate good cooperation with universities, other health trusts, research communities, patient and user organisations, and relevant partners nationally and internationally

COMPOSITION OF THE RESEARCH COMMITTEE

The Research Committee shall represent the clinics and research communities and have an interdisciplinary composition, with 2 research-qualified employees from each clinic at SSK and KPH and 1 from the other clinics. The clinic director appoints the representative and deputy, following a proposal from the clinic’s research committee. In addition, two user representatives and SSHF’s Data Protection Officer for Research participate.

The Research Director chairs the committee, and an adviser in the Research Section serves as secretary. Members are normally appointed for three years at a time, and a member may be appointed more than once. To ensure
continuity, 3 members rotate after 2 and 3 years, respectively. The Director of Professional Services adopts the terms of reference and composition of the committee, based on proposals from the Research Section and the Research Committee.
