Core Medical Record
The Core Medical Record gives healthcare professionals quick access to selected and important health information about you, regardless of where you receive treatment. Both you as a resident and healthcare professionals have access to the information in this service.
What is the Core Medical Record?
The Core Medical Record gives healthcare professionals quick access to selected health information about you. This can be important if you become acutely ill and, for example, need to go to an out-of-hours medical service or a hospital where you have no previous medical record.
Your Core Medical Record contains information about medicines, selected medical record documents, test results and organ donor cards, among other things, and makes these available to those treating you. You can log in to the Core Medical Record yourself and check whether the health information is correct.

The Core Medical Record is not the same as a patient medical record. Read more aboutpatient medical recordson helsenorge.no.
You have the right to restrict the sharing of your health information
Certain documents from your patient medical record may be shared via the Core Medical Record, both with healthcare providers at other hospitals and, for example, with GPs. Initially, summaries of treatment, imaging results and referrals sent by the hospital may be shared.
How to restrict sharing
If you have received treatment from us, anddo notwant information about this to be shared with anyone, you must ensure that sharing is restricted yourself.

Who has a Core Medical Record?
Everyone who lives in Norway has a Core Medical Record, except for the few who have opted out. Children automatically get their own Core Medical Record. When children turn 16, they can get digital access to their own Core Medical Record on Helsenorge if they have BankID.
Healthcare professionals can access the patient’s Core Medical Record via their usual medical record systems. They are only permitted to look up the record when necessary to provide healthcare.
