The Hearing Center, Flekkefjord

The Hearing Center is the hospital's specialist unit for hearing diagnostics and rehabilitation of the hearing impaired. We collaborate with clinics and doctors and offer our patients the best possible diagnostics for hearing and balance problems.

Patients who do not already have hearing aids must first be assessed at Sørlandet Hospital, Kristiansand before you can get an appointment for hearing aid fitting in Flekkefjord.

Patients who previously traveled to Rogaland and now wish to have an appointment in Flekkefjord can contact their family doctor for a new referral.

Information about previous treatment locations must be sent together with the referral to the hospital. This also applies to patients who have been treated by other contracted specialists.

In order to fit hearing aids, relevant hearing tests and a diagnosis must be available. Hearing aids are ordered individually after a needs assessment, and we assist in applying for coverage of hearing aid expenses from NAV (Norwegian Labour and Welfare Administration). Trying out hearing aids requires several consultations at The Hearing Center. The Hearing Center offers follow-up in a lifelong perspective.
All municipalities in Agder have hearing contacts. Here you can get advice, guidance, and practical help with using hearing aids and technical aids. They also assist in applying for technical aids in daily life. Contact information can be obtained from The Hearing Center or by contacting your municipality directly.

The Hearing Center offers service consultations if problems arise with hearing aids dispensed by Sørlandet Hospital. Hearing aids fitted at other clinics must be followed up there. We check the hearing aids, perform simple repairs, or assist with equipment maintenance. We also send hearing aids for repair to the supplier and take impressions for new ear tips.
Do you need an adjustment of the sound? You must book a regular consultation appointment.
For repair of hearing aids or impressions for new ear tips: Call us to book service.
Important: 10 minutes are allocated for the audiologist.
Service fee is 200 kr + any materials and postage.

Many people want to send a flower greeting when visiting a patient at the hospital, but due to allergies and infection risk, several of our departments are flower-free. We appreciate it if you who want to bring a gift to the patient choose something other than flowers.

Some patients also react allergically to perfume or creams containing perfume. We ask that this be taken into consideration.

Many patients and relatives want to take photos/videos or blog about their time at the hospital. Of course, you are welcome to do so, as long as you respect the privacy of other patients and employees.

Here are a few good tips for using social media for you as a patient or relative:

  • Respect others. You must have consent if you want to take pictures or videos of patients or employees. All patients have the right to privacy when they are at the hospital.
  • Parents/guardians decide whether you can take pictures of children or publish pictures of their children online. Parents should consider what is best for the child. When the child is 12 years old, great weight should be given to what the child thinks. When the child is 15 years old, they decide for themselves whether it is okay to be photographed and whether it may be published.
  • Remember that employees must also give their permission if you want to publish photos you have taken of them.
  • You should remove content you have published if the person involved asks you to. If someone has posted pictures of you online without permission, you can ask them to delete it. If you are not heard, you can contact: www.slettmeg.no.

Sound Recording
It is not illegal to make recordings of conversations you participate in for private use. Publishing and sharing, however, requires the consent of the person you are talking to. Secret recordings of conversations you do not participate in are illegal.
